Outdoor portraits are hot in the summer, but we made it work. Lots of sweat, but its a good thing that Avesta is amazing at hair and makeup! It stayed put.

Lucca was so perfect for his newborn portraits. He was a little over 8lb and so cute!

Siennah and her little brother! She was so sweet with him. Two under two is hard to photograph for newborn photos, but we did it! And look how cute they are together.

Baby photography near Rivercrest

There is nothing like being able to hold a brand new baby. Look how adorable his little feet are! He is less than 24 hours old. I love his wrinkly toes.

Finally the hospitals are allowing some visitors inside! I haven’t been able to do a fresh 48 baby session in a year. That yawn!

What is it about baby toes? So wrinkly and so precious.

Lucca was born On August 6th at 4:30pm! Momma went in after her water broke and she had a relatively easy and fast (easy for child birth anyway). We know it’s not easy!

He is a little over 8lb and the cutest brown hair. Look at that little tongue.

Isn’t he perfect in every way? 8lb of perfect!

Fresh 48’s are typically done within 48 hours and inside the hospital room. They can be done at home though if you prefer (especially with the rules of the hospitals in Houston, sometimes we have to mix it up). These are different than a typical newborn portrait session because they are not posed. Traditional newborn pictures include the baby being all wrapped up and posed into different positions. Most parents opt for both sessions since they are so different! Click to see the latest posed newborn session.

Have you ever had an oil painting? What about an oil painting of your family portrait? One that will withstand the test of time and that can be passed down from each generation? If not, why not? Let’s create this one of a kind unique piece together. These are exquisite.

I chose to create mine of the 4 generation of women in my life. My grandma, my mother, me, and my two daughters.

Each piece is master art retouched. Then it will be digitally painted. After it has been digitally painted, it gets sent off to Italy to be printed. This is not a traditional canvas. This portrait will be be on a Giclee Fine art canvas. Giclée printmaking meets the highest quality standard for printing limited edition pieces on paper or canvas.

We use 10-color, archival-pigmented Ultrachrome K3 inks that provide print life exceeding 80 years, even 100+ years. Perfect for generational pass down.

Here is a review! I cannot say enough amazing things about MJ and her team! We just welcomed our precious daughter Ava in October. Since this was our first baby, we wanted to make sure that we captured this special time in our lives. The minute I initially spoke to MJ on the phone, I knew she was the perfect fit for what we were looking for in a photographer. She is so genuine and engaging and I can tell that this is her passion and you can clearly see that passion captured in our photos. The entire process from beginning to end was an absolute dream. Her and her MUA, Avesta, made the effort to make sure our pictures came out exactly how we wanted them. Not to mention MJ was so patient with us as we struggled to narrow down our choices for our maternity and our newborn sessions. I am not kidding when I say that was the HARDEST part. All of them were so amazing! Once we were able to narrow it down, her and her hubby made a special house visit to help get our pictures up on the wall. Like I said, an absolute dream! It’s one thing to just be a talented photographer but it’s entirely another thing to be a talented photographer that cares about her clientele the way MJ does. I love his little feet in this newborn picture. Newborn portraits are usually done within two weeks of time. My favorite days to capture newborn portraits are usually 9-11 days.

He just curled up in this adorable pose and I just knew it would be a favorite. Those little arm rolls are the best.

Mom wanted beige/neutral/grays for his session and his skin tone looked perfect with them!

The Houston Heights Photographer – MJ’s Photography. Featuring 30th birthday

She asked her husband for a Land Rover for her 30th birthday. He really came through on that request didn’t he? So we decided to have some fun with it. Imagine a dog bigger than the car, going through a busy starbucks line…It was so much fun. So many laughs were made during this session.

We had such a fun time doing this 30th birthday session. We of course got approval by Starbucks before we went through. Eric the manager is amazing! This was in Katy, Texas.

Kim’s favorite thing is coffee and her newly adopted dog, Baloo! Baloo was in the shelter at Fort Bend and he now has his furever home! Look how perfect they are. It was meant to be. Click the link to view current adoptions.

Baloo is around 5 years old they said! He is so perfect and his mom is obsessed with him!

He of course had to get a pup cup through the Starbucks drive through in Fulshear, Texas.

Everyone was staring at us, I mean I would stare as well. It was pretty funny to watch an adult with her dog, go through the drive through in a child’s power wheel Land Rover! But we had a blast. Everyone had the best time.
