Now on to Avery’s newborn portraits! Miss Avery decided to come early. She made her grand arrival at just 3lb! After some NICU stay, we finally got to schedule her newborn session. I was very excited to finally get to meet her.

She definitely makes the quote “Though she be small, she is mighty,” true. She took a little persuading, but we got an amazing gallery of her. With lots of patience and extra cuddles, her gallery was very full!

She was so tiny at her newborn session! She was around 5 pounds. Look how beautiful she looks in neutrals.

When it comes time to get your little one’s newborn portraits done, you want the best. These moments can only be captured once. Just once. Before you know it, they are walking and talking and those sweet, raw, newborn details are long gone.

This is what I aim to capture. Every detail of your baby in their newborn pictures will be captured. You will not long for more! Every gallery is full of sweet images.

Charlotte was so good to me during her newborn session. She was two weeks old and extra sleepy. This is one of my favorites. Headband is by Lucky Crickets. (Mom’s….she sells these for everyday wear too!)

Charlottes nursery is decorated in pink and gray, so of course since this was discussed in our consult, I had to incorporate it. Look at this sweet girl.

This is one of mom’s favorite, her little bear. I have to agree, she’s so cute.

Daddy is a heart surgeon, which is so awesome. This sweet little heart stuffy by JLScreations was perfect for Charlotte to hold.

It’s fall…so of course a setup with some fall decor, aka pumpkins, was in store! Daddy wasn’t able to be at the individual portion of her session, but he fell in love with the pumpkin setup!

Most photographers have rules that say only immediate family can participate in your little one’s newborn session. Why? Grandma and grandpa’s are so proud of their grandbabies, they should be able to come. Even her Aunt came!

Sweet Oaklyn was just about 3 weeks old for her newborn session! I flew to Chicago, IL from Central Texas to take her newborn portraits!

Because of traveling, most of her session was done outdoors. I must say, after doing her session, I am obsessed with outdoor newborn pictures! Look how gorgeous she is in the flowers.

Illinois has gorgeous blooms so I found myself going all over the yard. From white, to red, purple, and mauve! Look how these red flowers make her images pop!

Here are some gorgeous purple flowers right in the flower bed outside. Look at her tiny fingers with the little lamb.

Earlier that day I had seen a vacant field of beautiful pink wildflowers and just knew I had to get a shot of her in them. Isn’t she perfect?

I took a few indoors. Especially to capture those tiny toes! Newborn toes are so precious.

Look at little Oaklyn in the bear bonnet. What is cuter than a baby in a bear hat? Nothing. And those lips!

I love this mauve bonnet on Oaklyn with the white flowers! Her skin tone looks perfect with it.

This may be one of my favorite pictures that I have every taken.

Sweet Emma was a joy to photograph. She came in at 6lb and the most gorgeous set of cheeks that I have ever seen! She was even born with a tooth! I am still amazed at her tooth.

We started off with some sibling portraits of Emma and her big brother. He is 3 and was such a little ham for these. You can tell that he loves his sister. They took maybe 5 minutes to capture, he did such an amazing job.

Emma was an amazing sleeper for her newborn session. We started her off swaddled and then slowly unwrapped her as we went along.

I then put her in purple and Oh my did she look beautiful! Look at her darling cheeks.

I have a thing with newborn babies and buckets. There is something so simple and yet so sweet about it. Look at her! I am in love.

Look how tiny she looks in this bowl. Every detail is captured. Her toes, fingers, eyelashes, lips, and nose. Isn’t she beautiful?

Her feet by her ears…I cannot handle it!

Newborn photography is my absolute favorite. Capturing a little’s one’s very first portraits is such an honor. These can never be redone and they are only this little once. Think about that….just once. It is an investment, but you will cherish these for the rest of your life.

Emily and Jacob welcomed their first baby into this world, Charlie. They did not decide on his name until they saw his sweet face. It fits him perfectly.

Neutrals are always included in my setups. These newborn setups look great displayed in any room, regardless of the decor or color choice. It also really brings out the baby in the images.

I met Shaina back in High school. Her mother was my basketball/volleyball coach and what a coach she was! Shaina also coached some of my volleyball summer leagues. When Shaina inquired with me about her newborn and maternity portraits, I leaped! I love that she chose me to capture these even though we are separated by about 4 hours!

We took her maternity portraits in Dallas at the cattle drive! It was an amazing location and perfect for her!

Sweet Brenna had to be delivered in Houston due to a heart issue they found at 20 weeks. Here is her story:

“Hi! My name is Shaina and I received the privilege from God to be Brenna’s Mom. You see I am 36 and finally a first time mom and not by choice. Brenna is actually my third child but the first that I have carried to term. I figured it wasn’t in the cards for me to have my own children and then after losing my own mom to cancer, I really didn’t think I wanted to be a mom without her here with me.”

“Then after 6 years of trying I finally got a positive pregnancy test! I was so excited and scared all at the same time! My feelings overwhelmed me and I wanted to do everything I could to save this child and hold him or her in my arms. Since I am older, my OB thought it would be a good idea for me to get an in-depth ultrasound at around 4 months, we already knew that we were having a girl at this point, but we just couldn’t decide on a name. After the ultrasound was done and we had been waiting for almost 2 hours for the doctor, he came back with news that made my whole body go numb.”

He said, “There is something wrong with your daughter’s heart, she has no right side.” ” My first thought was ok what do we need to do to fix it, my second thought was, was this my fault? Brenna has a heart defect called Hypoplaste Right Heart Syndrome and it’s very rare. The doctor’s didn’t know much about it and so they sent us to Texas Children’s hospital in Houston. My husband and I were devastated and spent that ride home just crying. The people at Texas Children’s in Houston are amazing and taught us that Brenna can have a great quality of life but it wouldn’t come without many obstacles. So we made a decision as a family to move to Houston a month before her due date. On the 28th of February I gave birth to the most precious and perfect baby in the world!”

“She had her first surgery at only 10 days old and spent the first two months of her life in and out of the hospital. She will have her second surgery at only 6 months. So in the meantime we are living in Houston and staying close by her doctors.”

“This definitely has not been the traditional route to becoming a first time Mom, especially without my mom here. I have had my days of crying and wondering why me? Why Brenna?”

“Then I realize how lucky I am..God chose ME and my husband to be her parents because he believes we have the strength to do so. He picked Brenna to go through this because she is strong and we will all give the glory to God about her amazing testimony! Hopefully this brings more people into God’s wonderful kingdom. I couldn’t have done any of this without the amazing support of my family and friends and all the amazing prayers they have prayed for Brenna. I am a proud momma of an amazing heart warrior! And I am so happy that Mary Ann was able to capture this wonderful pictures of her. God is so good!!”

Sweet Brenna finally made it to the Houston area for her newborn portraits at 3 months old! She has quite the personality. After some work, I got her to sleep and captured some of the most amazing portraits of this strong, beautiful baby girl. Here is her gallery!

I cannot say enough amazing things about MJ and her team! We just welcomed our precious daughter Ava in October. Since this was our first baby, we wanted to make sure that we captured this special time in our lives. The minute I initially spoke to MJ on the phone, I knew she was the perfect fit for what we were looking for in a photographer. She is so genuine and engaging and I can tell that this is her passion and you can clearly see that passion captured in our photos. The entire process from beginning to end was an absolute dream. Her and her MUA, Avesta, made the effort to make sure our pictures came out exactly how we wanted them. Not to mention MJ was so patient with us as we struggled to narrow down our choices for our maternity and our newborn sessions. I am not kidding when I say that was the HARDEST part. Sweet Matthew’s family drove a little over an hour for his newborn pictures. I’m always honored when I am chosen to capture a little one’s very first portraits, but when they travel to me it makes it even more special.

Matthew came in at 2 weeks old with big brother Benjamin who is almost 2 years old! Both parents are also Aggies, WHOOP, so of course we hit it off right away!

Big brother went first. We all know that 2 year old’s lead the show, so I wanted to give him time and space to see which setup best suited him. He was completely against laying down lol, so we put little brother in a bucket and waited! Aren’t they adorable?

I love the singles of moms and dads. It’s such a special picture. Sweet Matthew will look back onto these when he is older, it’s an important memory to have.
